Description
The “Bolt Arresting Buttstock” (BABs) is your all in one QD stock and bolt lock mechanism for the Ruger Mk series, for when you need to take a very accurate, very quiet shot.
These start with factory Ruger Mkiv bolt groups that are machined to accept the QD system, which is overmolded with ASA to align and silence the metal parts engaging.
The loudest sound with these suppressed 22lr pistol’s is the bolt ejecting the spent case. There is a loud pop when the spent case uncorks from the chamber, and of course the metal clang of the bolt itself cycling. This can be heard for about 100 yards or more in open terrain, and it can be quite loud if there’s a hard surface nearby. These pistols are made effectively completely silent if the bolt is kept locked.
Unlike previous toggle locking mechanisms, you don’t have to actually unlock the bolt to cycle another round; you simply grab the charging handle with your weak hand and push the pistol forward, never having to break your grip or stock weld. Using these does not require any fine motor skills.
The effective range is dramatically increased by the ergonomics of the stock. If you’re able to hit a six inch plate at 50 yards with a pistol, this stock will likely have you hitting that same plate at 100 yards. It has an A1 length of pull, and the comb is set up for a small red dot sight like an RMR or ACRO. The dual carbon fiber rods make for a very stiff, yet lightweight, stock, providing a surprisingly stable system for taking accurate shots.
