Description

This file is for a 3/4×16 NPT to 1/2×28 (also includes a 5/8×24 version in the zip) adapter. It’s scaled and offset to be plug and play right off your printer without any post processing necessary.

The adapter sits flush with the WIX filter’s endcap, which, besides keeping overall length to a minimum, places the muzzle threads well within the endcap, ensuring that the 3d printed portion is only under a compressive load. In other words, the 3d printed part is under no real load, and all of the heavy lifting is being done by the metal components. You don’t have to worry about it breaking, so as long as it doesn’t melt you’re not going to have the silencer fly off the barrel or snap off in a range bag.

Why, you ask? Well, mechanics tend to just chuck these things in the trash when they get clogged, and the tax is going down to zero dollars on Jan 1st (as of Oct. ’25), and for less than the price of a single Chinesium aluminum adapter you can have an unlimited supply of them…well, you can do the math! In other words, buy this file, get a bunch of clogged up WIX filters from your local mechanic, register them on Form 1s for zero dollars, and when one eventually stops suppressing just chuck it in the trash and save yourself from having to clean anything. So basically free disposable rimfire silencers for life.

Why not just buy a high quality metal one and keep reusing it? NPT threads are tapered, malleable threads that are designed to semi-permanently deform to each other, and even if you don’t torque them on they still snug up with each other over time and just get tighter and tighter. In other words, when it comes time to chuck the filter portion, you will likely find that you have to double wrench the filter endcap and the thread adapter to get them apart, and honestly who has time for that (or wrenches that big)? Better to just chuck the whole thing and print yourself a new thread adapter! It’s less than two hours of print time and about ten cents worth of filament.

Print with 100% infill at 0.15mm layer height. PLA is fine, ASA is hypothetically better, but PC might be required for shorter barrels with high rates of fire. Moral of the story is don’t get the barrel hot enough to melt the threads. Not recommended for anything other than 22lr. A 5/8×24 version is included in the event you may wish to use a 5/8 to 1/2 muzzle thread adapter to help increase temperature resistance or make it easier to move from one firearm to another.

Lastly, I would add that the Chinesium adapters are typically pretty terrible fit and alignment wise, and I would venture to guess that these 3d printed ones are probably on average going to be better in that regard.
